Game of Thrones: What To Expect When Winter Comes

Who would have thought after 6 seasons winter is finally here?

The 7th season of Game of Thrones kicks off this month and the world hasn’t anticipated anything more. 'The World's Most Popular Show" has managed to consistently surprise its viewers 6 seasons straight, with shocking deaths and plot twist that we imagine even the main characters couldn’t believe. Which begs the question what will its 7th season bring?

Season 6 ended with so many cliffhangers; Cersei is Queen of the seven kingdoms, Daenerys has gotten her ships and sailed to Westeros (took her long enough!), and Jon Snow is a Targaryen??!

With 14 days left to the premiere, here’s all we know about the forthcoming season;

A war is coming

“For a long time we’ve been talking about the wars to come. That war is pretty much here…the conflicts that have been building the past six years are upon them.” David Benoiff explained to Entertainment Weekly. Could this mean a war between House Targaryen and Lannister for the Iron Throne? Dragons and wildfire anyone? Or perhaps he's referring to the inevitable war between the dead and the living!? So many possibilities. So many loose ends. We need closure Benoiff!

Longer episodes

Maisie Williams(Arya Stark), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark)

This season will have fewer episodes, but never worry GOT family, the series’ producers told Entertainment Weekly that there are definitely going to be longer episodes. David Benioff an D. B. Weiss noted that “We have two episodes considerably over 60 minutes this year…..and one episode coming in around 90 minutes.” The producers also mentioned that there some shorter episodes as well.

Daenerys in the North?

During an interview, The Mother of Dragons (Emilia Clarke) may have let out a little spoiler. And we’re hoping it’s what we think it is. “I normally don’t spend very much time in Belfast, but this season, I spent a little more time there.” Clarke said.  Belfast is a known site for shooting scenes in 'The North' for the series. Because, of Clarke’s comment, fans are now speculating that Jon Snow and Daenerys may finally meet. Is this our first hint of ice meeting fire?

Ed Sheeran is guest starring

 This series, which has a history of a few minor cameos here and there, has managed to get The Galway girl crooner to make a guest appearance in the new season. In a conversation with Benoiff, he explained that they had tried for years to land Sheeran as a surprise for Maisie William (Arya Stark), who is a big fan of the star and this year they finally made it happen. No word yet on what role Sheeran will play in the series. Other cameos they have had in the past include Coldplay memeber, Will Champion, the band 'Of Monsters and Men, and Sigor Ros.

Reunions

(D. B.) Weiss and (David) Benioff told Entertainment Weekly themselves that fans can expect a whole bunch of reunions. Could this mean there’ll finally be a reunion for the remainder of the Stark family?

Cool Dragon Scenes

While we’ve seen Daenerys’ dragons in action many times however, Khaleesi and her dragons have never been to the North (which is where its been hinted Daenerys will be for a while).  The producers spoke on how tedious it was to capture the dragon scenes this season. Hopefully the harder the better!

Thankfully, the series’ producers mentioned nothing about any characters dying. But then again, if any of the characters were to die, they wouldn't tell us, would they? Sinister bastards.
