Is Lil Chano from 79th Hip Hop’s Very Own Superhero?

Grammy-award-winning artiste by night. Philanthropist by day.

Earlier last week, rumors swirled that Soundcloud was shutting down, as they reportedly only had enough money to stay online for 50 more days. Seems like the rumors were true because not long after, award winning artiste Chance the Rapper vowed to help, tweeting that he was ‘working on the soundcloud thing’.

And just like every superhero would, he came through on his promise. Not less than a day later Chance confirmed that he had a very fruitful call with the company’s co-founder and CEO, Alex Ljung and that Soundcloud was indeed ‘here to say’.

This isn’t the rappers first time ‘coming to the rescue’.

In November 2014, Chance was named Chicago’s Outstanding Youth of the Year by Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. Chance, along with his father actively fought gun violence in their hometown promoting the #SaveChicago campaign. The campaign saw Chicago go 42hours straight without shooting. Talk about impact!

Apart from stopping gun violence and saving music streaming apps, the 24 year old is very passionate about education. Chance popularly had feud with Bruce Rauner (Chicago’s governor) over how to provide funds for Chicago Public schools. Though the award winning rapper and his hometown’s governor may not see eye to eye, Chance wrote a $1,000,000 check to fund Chicago Public Schools. According to the Chicago Tribune, in addition to the $1 million, Chance also plans on donating $10,000 to 10 individual city schools. “This isn’t about politics. This is about taking care of the kids.” The rapper said during a conference.

And much like a superhero, wherever Chance goes, problems are solved!

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Nope, its Chance the Rapper!
