The Smoothie Modus Operandi image

The Smoothie Modus Operandi

Most people might not know this but a vitamin-packed smoothie is a great way to start the day and also a perfect afternoon pick-me-up. It’s also a great way for parents to get their kids to drink a healthy beverage without even knowing. So here’s how to make the perfect smoothie;

STEP 1

First you have to go decide what flavour of smoothie you would like to prepare (I’m more of a citrus kinda guy), I would recommend overripe banana (that’s right overripe; the riper the sweeter) and that’s simply due to its sweetness and creaminess when blended. At this point there’s no right or wrong, the choices are endless. In fact go crazy, experiment, have some fun, what’s the worst that could happen. We learn every day. So keep on trying out new mixes until, what was the word? That’s right Eureka! you get that mind blowing, palette tingling mix. After that’s done you wash and chop up your fruits to blendable chunks, by the way if you have some frozen fruits you would like to use that would be a great option (I’ll let you know why later).

STEP 2

You then pour in your liquid base into the blender. Your liquid base could be water, milk, yoghurt or fruit juice depending on the kind of taste you’re going for. For those of you trying to get a more wholesome taste I recommend yoghurt unless you want a pure fruit smoothie, then water is better suited.

SIDENOTE: Always pour in liquid first to prevent the risk of damaging the blades of your blender and to also help uniform blending throughout the mixture (Trust me you don’t want to try a chunky smoothie).

STEP 3

Add something frozen which could be ice, fruit juice or frozen fruit. This acts as a thickener for your smoothie, although ice is the obvious choice, frozen fruits could be a better option if the fruits have been picked at its freshest point. Also the texture of the frozen fruits adds a level of consistency and improves the all-round quality of your smoothie.

SIDENOTE: If you’re taking your smoothie as a complete meal and not as a side beverage, add some protein powder to your mix as it gives you the much needed energy boost to start your day. And for those looking to improve the goodness of your smoothie you can try adding vegetables like spinach, kale, carrots etc. And if you’re looking to sweeten your smoothie just pour in a little honey.

STEP 4

This point is where you begin the blending process. First start at a slow speed then work up momentum to move the larger chunks of fruit to the base so the blades can chop them finely. Let the increase in speed be a gradual process because if you start too fast you run a risk of having chunky bits which you would eventually have to scoop out. Once ice cubes or frozen fruits are done blending, turn off the blender and let it set for a minute.

FINAL STEP

Pour your cool smoothie into a tall glass, open an issue of NG and enjoy ;)

How To Shave Like A Boss image

How To Shave Like A Boss

For those of you who always end up on the wrong side of the blade after shaving (you know with razor bumps and irritations) here’s a few steps and tips on how to shave without those side effects. And for the beardgang faithful, trust me there will come a day in a man’s life where you have to pick up the razor and go bare… you definitely would want to do it write when that day eventually comes. Before we teach you how to shave like a real badass there are few things you would need to successfully complete this feat which are;

  • Badger Brush and bowl: That little brush you kinda never needed at the barber shop.. It’s actually quite important as it is used to apply shaving foam/cream.. yup it’s called a badger brush who knew?!

  • Shaving Foam/Cream: Shaving foam acts as a lubricant for the cutting process and desensitizes skin. There are various brands of shaving cream no particular brand is above the other but I’m quite partial to Gillette.

  • Shaving Stick: Well there are different types of shaving sticks.. There’s the straight razor, the double-edged shaving stick,  the electric shaver, the multiple blade shaving stick with removable blades and then there’s the disposable shaving stick. Depending on your budget and shaving style options could vary.

  • Aftershave: These are products that are applied immediately after shaving to provide some combination of irritation relief, skin moisturizing, and protection from the elements.  Select an aftershave based on how that combination addresses the needs of your skin. Avoid all alcohol-based aftershaves as they tend to damage your skin.

With all these things in hand you’re well on your way to having an epic shave

Here are the steps to shave like a real badass;

STEP 1

Choose the shaver that best fits your needs

Consult a grooming specialist, like a barber who specializes in facial shaves, to understand how your facial hair grows and the correct technique to approach the contours of your face. Everyone’s hair grows at a different rate and has a different texture so be aware of what features benefit you most.

STEP 2

Wash your face with warm water

Washing removes excess oil and dead skin cells, which can interfere with the razor or irritate your gently-scraped skin while simultaneously reducing bacteria that could cause infection. Washing also moisturizes the hair about to be shaved, softening it and making the shave easier. Warm water is the best option when washing your hair pre-shave as it helps soften your follicles and encourage your pores to open, making for a closer shave. Dry-shaving is a sure-fire way to incur razor burn and skin irritation. Always make sure there's at least some lubrication between your skin and razor, even if it's just a splash of water.

STEP 3

Apply the shaving cream to your wet face

Apply the shaving cream liberally over your entire face. Shaving cream softens the hair and moisturizes the skin, but if you're in a pinch, you can also shave with conditioner or even with soap (only if you're really in a pinch). If you are able to buy the mixing bowl, you first wet your badger brush with cold water. Whip the shaving brush around your bowl in a circular motion, agitating the shaving cream. Adding more cool water as much as necessary, whip the shaving cream into a light lather with soft peaks. This should take around 2-3 minutes. Use the shaving brush to work the cream onto your face in a circular motion, going over your entire face multiple times. Let the shaving cream set on your face for 2 minutes as the longer it stands the more moisturised you skin gets.

STEP 4

Hold the razor correctly

If you're using a multi-blade razor, which seems to be the most popular kind, hold the razor with your index finger extended near the top of the shaft, resting the head flat of the razor against the skin. The handle should be raised at an angle of 30 degrees or so.

  • If the cartridge is assisted by a spring to hold flat against skin curves, start shaving with the handle raised enough to compress this spring just a little into its range.
  • Drag the razor handle-first across the skin to shave. Applying pressure is not necessary; pressure or sideways movement can cause cuts. Try to bring the razor as lightly as possible across the surface of your skin.
  • As you practice, you'll be able to set down the razor, pull it across the skin, and raise it up at the end of a stroke in a smooth motion. A rolling razor like a "Headblade" can maintain the proper angle in hard-to-reach areas.

STEP 5

Shave in the proper direction and taut your skin where possible

On the first pass, always shave with the grain. This usually means shaving downward, but not always. Going against the grain (shaving the opposite direction that the hair grows) makes for a closer shave, but it also produces the most irritation and cuts. If you have a tendency to get bumps or rashes, or if you often get ingrown hairs, or if you simply consider your face too pretty to abuse, start shaving with the grain. If your skin is loose in any way, it helps to create a flat, firm surface for the razor to cut across. Right beneath the jawline is a problem-area for many men because it is contoured. When you shave this area, lift the skin on your cheek up so that the skin that was right below your jawline is now right above it. Shave with the grain.

STEP 6

Periodically dip your razor in warm water to free any hairs that have stuck between the blades

You want your blades as clean and uncluttered as possible. Whenever you think there's possible buildup between or underneath your blades, dip and swirl your blades under water. It's usually a good idea to soften the water by adding soap (this will make the water go scummy, but will help protect the blade from the scratchy minerals that tend to dry on after use).

STEP 7

Rinse off the shaving cream with cold water

After you’re done shaving rinse off your face with cold water as cold water closes your pores and makes it more difficult for bacteria to get inside thereby reducing the possibility of irritation. You can also press a cold, wet cloth against your face for five minutes to really seal the deal. Really, the more time you take the better.

STEP 8

Pat dry and moisturize

Don't rub with a towel, as that can irritate the freshly shaved skin. Use a generous amount of moisturizer that is free of perfumes and other potential irritants. Shaving balms based in aloe and tea tree oil can help prevent dry skin and razor burn. Use all-natural products to keep your skin moisturized and healthy, applying a small amount and working it thoroughly around your beard area.

STEP 9

Clean your shaving supplies

Rinse and dry your equipment thoroughly, and store in a dry place. Clean equipment is less likely to introduce bacteria and infection to your open, freshly shaved pores. Change the blades as needed. A dull blade will leave your face feeling raw and sore, and is much more likely to cause razor burn.

So those are the steps needed to be taken if you want to shave like a badass unless you’re a legend like Chuck Norris who tells his beard to fall off.. its advised you follow these few steps.

HAPPY SHAVING

Bad Breath Can Be Fixed image

Bad Breath Can Be Fixed

So we have to talk about this… Yup, halitosis; the bane of all spoken conversations. We have all been in a situation where a friend has bad breath and because of the fact that he/she is a friend you spare their feelings and decide to not tell them that their mouths smell like a garbage disposal. So you have to suffer in silence till he/she decides to stop speaking or you pick your phone and decide to answer that important phone call from your mum just to end the conversation (torment). Most people don’t know why they have bad breath.. Here are some probable causes

  • Food particles from stinky foods like garlic and onions
  • Smoking
  • Respiratory Infections
  • Acid Reflux
  • Poor Oral Hygiene

So we intend on helping you send across the ‘your breath stinks… here’s how to fix it’ message that is, for those that don’t know they know they have bad breath although I doubt you wouldn’t know that. Anyways let’s assume most people don’t know so here’s how you find out whether or not you’re having a bad breath day.

Ask a friend – As shameful as this may sound it’s actually a sure fire way of finding out if you have bad breath or not. An actual friend shouldn’t have any problem with that although it’s advised to use this method when you’re with a really close friend that way it wouldn’t seem so awkward.

The Sniff Test - If you're looking for a quicker indication of how your breath smells, another option is the sniff test. Easiest ways to do this is to lick your wrist and let it dry for a moment, and then take a whiff. You can also floss between two teeth toward the back of your mouth and smell the floss, or use a tongue-scraper to gently scrape the tongue, and then smell the scraper.

Taste - There are instances when you can actually taste the breath you're omitting. In these cases, the problem is usually caused by something potent you ate, such as garlic, groundnut or fish, or by a condition such as dry mouth or dehydration – the signs of which include thick, foamy saliva and a change in taste. If you have a stale or yucky taste in your mouth, there's a good chance it is reflected in the way your breath smells, too. Hence me saying earlier ‘you probably know when your breath is bad’.

At this point youre probably just looking for solutions to bad breath, some are quite pissed as they’ve tried the obvious solution which is brushing our teeth to no avail. So here are the few things you need to do to remedy your situation

Proper Brushing Technique

Yeah we know, you’re a grownup and you know how to brush your teeth but do you really?. We already know brushing your teeth whisks away odours but we need to brush twice a day; in the morning to prepare you for a new day and at night to brush off all that we have eaten throughout the day. This was actually stated by the National Dental Association. Also while brushing, take extra time to brush your tongue as it is where bad bacteria tend to linger the most after you’re done brushing the teeth and gum line.

See a Dentist twice a year

A really large percentage of people don’t do this as they believe it lacks importance and doesn’t take precedence while in reality it’s of utmost importance to see a dentist regularly. Regular visits to the dentist aid in knowing the state of your mouth, most people believe if they brush their teeth it’s all good not knowing their current toothbrush might be causing internal damages or they have sensitive teeth and their current toothpaste is too acidic. All these can only be found out by seeing a dentist.

Replace Your Toothbrush

If you wait for your semiannual dental checkup to replace your toothbrush with a freebie from the dentist, think again. To keep your breath fresh, use clean oral hygiene tools. When your toothbrush becomes frayed, it's time for a new one. Toothbrushes should be replaced every three to four months not when your bristles are doing the splits.

Regularly Clean Dental Appliances

Just because you wear false teeth or a retainer doesn’t mean you should ignore proper oral hygiene. Dentures and partials require daily cleaning, just as natural teeth. Remove the dental appliances from your mouth to brush them to remove all food particles and plaque which can create bad breath.

Choose Foods Carefully

Naturally certain types of food smell terrible. Seasonings, such as garlic or vinegar, can linger well past mealtime, so eat them sparingly. Also its advised to stay away from sugary or sticky food like taffy as they tend to stay longer on the teeth and are hard to remove.

So follow these few steps and you would definitely have longer conversations and you probably won’t get curved by the person you’re trying to talk to (emphasis on ‘probably’) or if you know a friend that has zombie breath… just send them this link rather than leaving them alone to forever walk the earth with incomplete conversations.

Snoring: It's Not Only For The Plus Sized image

Snoring: It's Not Only For The Plus Sized

We all know someone that snores and it could be very annoying especially for the light sleepers. We’ve all heard different reasons as to why people snore and the most commonly heard is ‘He/She is overweight that’s why they snore’ or ‘I’m very tired’. Well this isn’t entirely true as there are people that aren’t on the plus size and they snore too. So why do people snore? The reason is more complex than just having a long day or being overweight. Snoring occurs as a result of vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting sound due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping.

Let me explain further, When you fall asleep, the progress is from a light to a deep sleep, and gradually the muscles in the top (roof) of the mouth, throat and the tongue (the pharynx) relax, partially blocking the air-passage inside the throat. These cause the tissues to vibrate: the narrower the passage gets, the greater the vibratory sound. This is also the reason why, if you are overweight, or have a longer uvula (the triangular tissue suspended from the palate) the extra tissues may further narrow the air-passage. That’s the reason why most overweight individuals snore. Asides that, there are various other reasons why people snore;

Why people snore?

  • Being overweight or out of shape.

Fatty tissue and poor muscle tone contribute to snoring. Even if you’re not overweight in general, carrying excess weight just around your neck or throat can cause snoring.

  • Age.

As you reach middle age and beyond, your throat becomes narrower, and the muscle tone in your throat decreases. While you can do anything about growing older, lifestyle changes, new bedtime routines, and throat exercises can all help to prevent snoring.

  • The way you’re built.

Men have narrower air passages than women and are more likely to snore. A narrow throat, a cleft palate, enlarged adenoids, and other physical attributes that contribute to snoring are often hereditary.

  • Nasal and sinus problems.

Blocked airways or a stuffy nose make inhalation difficult and create a vacuum in the throat, leading to snoring.

  • Alcohol, smoking, and medications.

Alcohol intake, smoking, and certain medications, such as tranquilizers like lorazepam and Valium, can increase muscle relaxation leading to more snoring.

  • Sleep posture.

Sleeping flat on your back causes the flesh of your throat to relax and block the airway.

How do we fix it?

So a lot of research has been conducted and different solutions have been devised to cure/stop snoring. Some go as far as purchasing sleeping devices to help them become sound sleepers but end up looking like Darth Vader.

Snoring can be stopped by making certain changes both in one’s everyday life and bedtime rituals before sleeping

Lifestyle changes to stop snoring

  • Lose Weight

If you’re overweight, dropping even a few pounds can reduce fatty tissue in the back of the throat and decrease or even stop snoring.

  • Exercise

This can also help to stop snoring. As well aiding weight loss, exercising your arms, legs, and abs, for example, also leads to toning the muscles in your throat, which in turn can lead to less snoring. There are also specific exercises you can do to strengthen the muscles in your throat.

  • Quit Smoking

Quitting is easier said than done, but smoking irritates the membranes in the nose and throat which can block the airways and cause snoring.

  • Avoid alcohol, sleeping pills, and sedatives

These relax the muscles in the throat and interfere with breathing. Talk to your doctor about any prescription medications you’re taking, as some encourage a deeper level of sleep which can make snoring worse.

  • Establish regular sleep patterns

Create a healthy bedtime ritual with your partner and stick to it. Hitting the sack in a routine way together can help you sleep better and often minimize snoring.

Bedtime remedies to help you stop snoring

  • Clear nasal passages.

If you have a stuffy nose, rinse sinuses with saline before bed. Using a nasal decongestant or nasal strips can also help you breathe more easily while sleeping. If you have allergies, reduce dust mites and pet dander in your bedroom or use an allergy medication.

  • Keep bedroom air moist.

Dry air can irritate membranes in the nose and throat, so if swollen nasal tissues are the problem, a humidifier may help.

  • Change your sleeping position.

Elevating your head four inches may ease breathing and encourage your tongue and jaw to move forward. There are specially designed pillows available to help prevent snoring by making sure your neck muscles are not crimped.

  • Sleep on your side instead of your back.

If you roll over onto your back, wedge a pillow stuffed with tennis balls behind your back. After a while, sleeping on your side will become a habit and you can dispense with the tennis balls.

  • Try an anti-snoring mouth appliance.

These devices often resemble an athlete’s mouth guard and help open your airway by bringing your lower jaw and/or your tongue forward during sleep. While a dentist-made appliance can be expensive, cheaper do-it-yourself kits are also available.

Just incase you were wondering what the breathing facemask and mouthpiece looks like

With these you would at least be able to let other people and even yourself to sleep peacefully without the added background noise.

Jet Fuel Scarcity: A Tale Of Missed Flights image

Jet Fuel Scarcity: A Tale Of Missed Flights

In recent times due to the recent drop in the price of crude oil there has been some sort of a ripple effect where there is either a spike in price of its constituents (e.g. Kerosene, PMS, AGO) or an outright scarcity. For the case of Aviation fuel it’s the latter, this past weekend a lot of Nigerian Domestic flights had to either reschedule or even cancel their flights as a result of the scarcity.

The scarcity of aviation fuel, popularly called Jet-A1, did not only disrupt flight activities at airports across the country, but also affected private and government programmes in the Federal Capital Territory. It was learnt that several programmes in Abuja were either postponed or delayed as key personnel who were to anchor strategic meetings could not arrive on schedule or did not arrive at all.

A large amount of travellers were left stranded at the domestic terminals of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, some stranded passengers leaving Lagos had to wait till as late as 10pm before they could actually travel, airlines siting the scarcity as the key factor contributing to the delays.

At the Federal Ministry of Transportation in Abuja, a programme that was meant to hold around noon did not commence until around 2.30pm despite the fact that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, was seated for hours waiting for committee members who were supposed to make presentations at the event.

It was later gathered that the committee members could not make it to Abuja as a result of the problems caused by the non-availability of aviation fuel, which affected their flights.

Arik Air announced that it was grappling with flight schedule disruptions due to the severity of the situation across the country.

It stated that since the beginning of the year, the country had been grappling with inadequate supply of aviation fuel leading in most cases to severe shortage of the product and consequently the disruption of flight operations.

According to Arik Air, for the past week, it has had to face another round of aviation fuel scarcity, which got worse over the weekend, leading to many flight delays and cancellations. The airline operates an average of 120 daily flights requiring about 500,000 litres of fuel each day.

Arik Air stated, “Due to the large number of domestic and international flights, it is the most impacted by the inability of oil marketers to meet its daily fuel requirements on a timely and consistent basis. This has forced the airline to postpone flights, while waiting for the fuel marketers to source and deliver the product. “On many occasions, despite all efforts in engaging the marketers if fuel cannot be sourced, the flights may eventually be cancelled, causing not only revenue loss for the airline, but also inconveniencing or stranding the passengers.”

According to the carrier, at the root of the fuel supply crisis is low stock due to the inability of marketers to source for the foreign exchange to import more Jet-A1 fuel into the country.

Why Is Richard Mofe Damijo Taking Jumia To Court? image

Why Is Richard Mofe Damijo Taking Jumia To Court?

Richard Mofe Damijo popularly known as RMD, has voiced out his unhappiness with Jumia’s usage of his Instagram photos without his consent. Although Jumia has taken down the photos in contention, RMD’s lawyers are set to sue the e-commerce platform for punitive and exemplary damages for the infringement of his image rights.

Jumia’s Instagram team admitted using photos of the veteran actor alongside hashtags promoting JumiaFashion but when his representatives indicated disapproval, the pictures were immediately taken down. Following the actor’s disapproval in re-posting his photos on Jumia Fashion Instagram page, the insider said the company “apologised” took down the photos and “has responded to subsequent letters informing them of this.”

A trusted source disclosed that earlier this year when RMD’s solicitors first contacted Jumia, “Jumia Fashion’s Instagram page has not re-posted any of his photos” while stressing that none of his images were ever used on the website of the company for any commercial purposes.

The source further disclosed that aside from complaining about the act, lawyers of the actor asked Jumia to “offer conciliatory compensation”.

After this notification, RMD’s team went on an online search to determine the extent of the alleged infringement, and they found out the use of the hashtag – #Jumiafashion – “which connotes that he’s endorsing Jumia.” The actor’s legal team also asserted that some other brands may not be able to approach the actor for endorsement deals because they may not be inclined to “share a brand ambassador” with Jumia Fashion.

According to the brand/image representative of the actor, the use of RMD’s photos on Jumia’s social media platforms with the accompanying hashtags cost an endorsement deal and possibly prospective ones.

“We were talking to a couple of fashion brands who want him to be an ambassador and one of them actually pointed it out, that apparently RMD was endorsing Jumia Fashion,” she said.

“Since that conversation with one of the fashion brands that wanted RMD to endorse their products, their communication with us has slowed down a great deal.”

"god" From A King image

"god" From A King

With his unique sound, 27-year-old LA based Nigerian Rapper Chauncey Amaechi known by his stage name ‘King Chuck’ is breaking musical barriers, by any means necessary.   Having recently released his single “god”, the independent artist is basking in the success of what many supporters believe is a ‘hit record’. Without hesitation, I believe the same.

A proud Nigerian, King Chuck says he began to incorporate his culture into his music following his three year visit to the country.

“[While there] I basically embraced the culture. It became a part of me and the basis of why I was doing African music,” he told TNJ in an exclusive interview.

While having the talent to indulge in both, King Chuck says his love for music surrounds more around rap than it does singing.

“It’s weird when people say that I sing. [To me] a singer is my sister. I grew up in the church, so we used to be in the house [singing]. You know, Brandy and Monica. [laughs] But the groundwork of my love was definitely rap, since I was like 5.”

Influenced by the sounds of the greats, ranging from Biggie Smalls, Big Pun, Big L to Lauryn Hill, King Chuck says his music has always been different. His new single is a testament to that statement, as ‘god’ possesses a different sound, a different delivery and a different message.

“Every time we listen to the radio, most of the songs are about the same thing. A girl broke your heart or you’re trying to pop some bottles, so [his producers] were like “let’s do something where we actually have a message as well as something people can repeat. So that’s how we came up with the concept of ‘god’.”

King Chuck says he doesn’t want to short live his single and when he feels it has received the proper buzz, he will release his anticipated EP.

“[I’m] courageous. I say that because I have an interesting story, all from my journey. All based off music. I’m from New Haven [Connecticut] and people don’t really support, it’s like a bucket of crabs. When you do something left-field, people don’t always receive it. My music has always been different, I dropped out of school for this. There were a lot of things I had to go through to keep this thing going and I kept that courage and kept pushing.”

The History of Halloween image

The History of Halloween

In recent times Nigerians have progressed towards celebrating American Holidays, more often than not most people don’t know the history of these holidays so here’s a brief history of Halloween.

Straddling the line between fall and winter, plenty and paucity, life and death, Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition. It is thought to have originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints and martyrs; the holiday, All Saints’ Day, incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows’ Eve and later Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a secular, community-based event characterized by child-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating. In a number of countries around the world, as the days grow shorter and the nights get colder, people continue to usher in the winter season with gatherings, costumes and sweet treats.

The American Halloween tradition of “trick-or-treating” probably dates back to the early All Souls’ Day parades in England. During the festivities, poor citizens would beg for food and families would give them pastries called “soul cakes” in return for their promise to pray for the family’s dead relatives. The distribution of soul cakes was encouraged by the church as a way to replace the ancient practice of leaving food and wine for roaming spirits. The practice, which was referred to as “going a-souling” was eventually taken up by children who would visit the houses in their neighbourhood and be given ale, food, and money.

The tradition of dressing in costume for Halloween has both European and Celtic roots. Hundreds of years ago, winter was an uncertain and frightening time. Food supplies often ran low and, for the many people afraid of the dark, the short days of winter were full of constant worry. On Halloween, when it was believed that ghosts came back to the earthly world, people thought that they would encounter ghosts if they left their homes. To avoid being recognized by these ghosts, people would wear masks when they left their homes after dark so that the ghosts would mistake them for fellow spirits. On Halloween, to keep ghosts away from their houses, people would place bowls of food outside their homes to appease the ghosts and prevent them from attempting to enter.

So for those of you that have been going for Halloween parties all this time and just think it’s about the costumes (although it basically is) this is what its actually about…

Harrysong Leaves Five Star Music image

Harrysong Leaves Five Star Music

Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer, Harrison Tare Okiri, better known by his music name, Harrysong, has dumped Five Star Music our sources tell us. The award-winning artiste who was formerly signed to Questionmark Records has had a successful career with chart-topping records credited to him even bagging an endorsement deal with ‘Gala’ Beef Roll making him the first ever brand ambassador for the household brand.

His career climaxed in 2014 after he released his groundbreaking single “Betterpikin” which went viral for a very long time. Mr Songs, as he is called, has worked with colleagues in the industry especially with ex-label mates, KCEE and Skiibii.

The announcement of his exit from Five Star Music was seen in an Interview with PlanetTV and on his Instagram page where he posted a logo and captioned it “Alterplate”.

“We are unveiling a new platform; it’s a music platform not a label, it’s a music company owned by Harrysong. It’s not supposed to be surprising, my contract expired longtime ago, no no no no I’m not renewing”, he said.

In the interview, Harrysong sounded upset and unappreciated for efforts he had put into the success of his former label. He revealed that he was signed to Fivestar Music as an artiste and he was also in charge of song writing, vocal coaching and music directing stating he has contributed more than his fair share of music and not being acknowledged for it.

“What bothers me is not the work, what bothers me is the appreciation. You are helping someone that knows nothing and the person is feeling like he is helping you, he is not even feeling, he is telling you that he is helping you”.

You write a song for someone and the person is telling you if I don’t sing your song you don’t blow, it’s childishness, it’s……I don’t know” he added.

Apparently after sharing the Gala and the booze he wasn’t appreciated for it… well Mr. Harrysong we appreciate you and we wish you he best in this new phase of your career.
