This March, the TV Academy decided to include a shortform category which is good news if you are a YouTuber. This category goes beyond YouTube producers to Adultswim artistes and other video making outlets available in today’s world. Among the nominees for an Emmy in the Short form category is the ScreenJunkies’ Honest Trailer series.
If you don’t already watch Honest Trailers then you haven’t been using YouTube like you should be. Honest Trailers takes everything disappointing in a movie and uses them to create an actual honest trailer of the movie complete with proper score, cinematic effects and actual movie narrations of the typical movie narrator guy. The channel has grown rapidly since its inception and has over 5.6 million subscribers. The ScreenJunkies brand has huge support from celebrities and just recently featured Ryan Reynolds in their Deadpool parody video.
So how does Honest Trailers celebrate their nomination? They create a trademark hilarious clip saying funny but true things about other Emmy nominees. This perhaps is the first time a nominee makes fun of other nominees if you discount animated comedy shows. Risky? Brilliant? Only time will tell.
NOBODY REALLY WATCHES THIS MANY SHOWS TBH, PERHAPS THEY HAVE A POINT.
"With more than 400 scripted shows on television, no voter on earth has time to watch them all, so instead of just voting for your friends this year...”
In the video above, Honest Trailers rips into all your favourite shows in typical ScreenJunkies manner and reveal details like the fact that Blackish is made by the creator of America's Next Top Model, or that two seasons into Better call Saul and everybody still calls him Jimmy isn't really working well with the title name.
