Game Of Thrones Recap: The Most Intense Episode Of Anything Yet

Game Of Thrones Recap: The Most Intense Episode Of Anything Yet image

Warning: this post contains spoilers from the sixth season of this Tv show.

The previous episode saw some interesting things happen, particularly with the Stark Girl. If that episode was Ghana Jollof, the episode which aired yesterday is definitely Nigerian for Stark fans. Following what seems like a Stark redemption, this last episode saw viewers bid farewell to one of the most evil things to happen to Tv show lovers since The Walking Dead’s Governor and The X-Files’ Cigarette-Smoking man.

Asides that, there’s a whole lot happening over in Meeren with Daenery’s dishing out one of her usual... You know, smart talk, proud talk, in-the-face-of-death but somehow managing to pull it off sort of scenes.

Meeren

We should kick things off with Meeren where Aunty Daenery’s finally reunites with her people albeit in a rather unwanted circumstance. The masters had come for what they felt was theirs. After consulting or rather condemning Tyrion, they agree to have a peaceful talk with the masters about surrendering. That somehow turned into Daenery’s showing off her dragons, ending the war (which probably just lasted 8 hours anyway) and showing off her newly acquired Dothraki army.

Theon and Yara managed their escape from uncle Eulon. On getting to Meeren where things have calmed down a little, they were met by Tyrion who made sure he got back at Theon for those dwarf jokes he told back in the first season. After they explained their plight and reminding all participants of their parental misfortune, Khaleesi agreed to help them take back the Salt throne in exchange for a few hundred ships and peaceful fellowship with the rest of the kingdoms.

The Royal Pain

Fina-fucking-ly Ramsay gets what’s coming.

Battle ready Jon Snow discussed strategies with Davos before the war knowing well that not only did Ramsay have Rickon prisoner, he had two times as much men as Jon did and the safety of a castle. After an attempt at a peace treaty which Ramsay turned down unsurprisingly, Sansa angrily left uttering these words as she turned away. “You’re going to die tomorrow Lord Bolton, sleep well”

For the first time, I agreed with Lady Sansa, she meant it... Then again we remember the secret letter she wrote to a secret someone, guess you probably know who by now.

The night before the battle, the usual doubt creeps in as Jon went to Melisandre to clear out a few things which included if the Lord Of Light brought him back to life to die again, or take another bastard along with him.

The Battle came and this time, it was glorious.

Ramsay being a tease released Rickon to his half brother allowing him run well over 200 meters before bringing him down with an arrow to the back of the chest.

Jon Snow following eagerly waiting to receive his brother had already charged close enough to the enemy for him to turn back after Rickon’s death, he had to charge forward into a sea of a thousand leading men all mounted on horses and ready to kill. Thankfully, his men arrived and the battle began. On foot, Jon did as much as he could, taking down every little piece of crap that had the guts to strike at him.

After a couple of minutes, the ground was littered with bodies, stark fighters, Bolton fighters and wild folk alike. That was when the royal thorn decided it was time, enclosing all that was left of the resistance in a man-trap consisting of men and spears and shields and men and spears and shields.

That’s the thing about a battle, you fight to the finish, especially not after 5,700 men have died. Knowing they had all but lost, the still fought their way through the traps killing barely 20 men.

It looked like all hope was lost but Alas, she came... Sansa, riding on a horse with Peter Little finger by her side eager to win back her trust. Behind them were men he had acquired from Sansa’s spoiled little relative to end the battle which he did and left Ramsay scampering away on his horse to fight from behind the walls of his castle.

BOOM BOOM BOOM, three knocks on the door was all the door could take from the giant wildling before Ramsay was trapped and Jon knocked the air out of his body.

It all ended up with Sansa feeding him to his beloved hounds who he hadn’t fed in seven days.
